Violist Jin Ah Im graduated from Sunhwa
Arts High School, completed her bachelor's and master's degrees at the Korea
National University of Arts, and furthered her studies in Germany, graduating
from the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin with a degree in specialized
performance. She has been recognized in various competitions, winning first
place at the Sejong Cultural Society Competition, first place at the Yeum
Competition, and third place at the Seoul International Asian Students
Competition. She was also selected for the Kumho Young Artist Chamber Music
section in 2008, establishing herself as a distinguished violist.
Jin Ah Im has showcased her skills through
numerous invited performances both domestically and internationally, including
with the Philharmonic Korea Ensemble, Waltz & Dr. Mahn Ensemble, and music
concerts invited by the Austrian government, Hungarian government, and the
Korean Association in Frankfurt, Germany. She has broadened her musical
knowledge through prestigious masterclasses led by Barbara Westphal, Roberto
Diaz, Hartmut Rohde, Tatjana Masurenko, Dietmut Popp, Günter Pichler, and
Wolfram Christ, and has been praised for her outstanding musicality and talent
in performances such as the Oberstdorf Academy Concert.
After her return recital at the Kumho Art
Hall in 2013, she began her music career in Korea and is actively involved in
chamber music as a member of the Ensemble TIMF. Internationally, she has
expanded her performance horizons with invited performances in Geneva, Vatican,
Athens, and at the Paris Conservatory of Music. In 2016, she participated in
tours in Nagano, Tokyo, and Kanazawa as a guest member of the Orchestra
Ensemble Kanazawa with pianist Jörg Demus.
Jin Ah Im has been an active performer in
the Tongyeong International Music Festival’s Tongyeong Festival Orchestra,
collaborating with renowned musicians such as Christoph Eschenbach, Gidon
Kremer, Rudolf Buchbinder, Günter Pichler, Christopher Poppen, and Heinz
Holliger, participating in numerous stages including the Asia tour and the
Isang Yun 100th Anniversary Europe tour, passionately connecting with
audiences.
Studied under Friedemann Weigle, sunghwa O,
Yuhong Min, and Ji-hye Hong of the Artemis Quartet, she served as guest
principal violist for the Gunpo Prime Philharmonic Orchestra and the Cheongju
City Symphony Orchestra. Currently, she teaches at Hansei University, Incheon
Arts High School, and Busan Arts High School, while continuing her active music
career as a member of the Ensemble TIMF and MQ Trio.
