Pianist Min Jeong graduated from the
College of Music at Seoul National University, after attending Yewon School and
Seoul Arts High School. She subsequently completed her master's and doctoral
programs at the same university on a full scholarship, and then moved to
Germany to graduated from the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin with the
highest performer qualification (Konzertexamen). Min Jeong who received high
praise from the German media Sȕdkurier as a "true virtuoso on the keyboard,"
distinguished herself early on by winning numerous prestigious competitions in
Korea, including the silver prize at the KBS Seoul New Music Competition, the
Eumyeon Piano Competition, the Samick Piano Competition, the Hanjeon Art Center
Competition, the Nanpa Music Competition, and the Teenager Piano Competition.
After moving to Germany, she won all the top prizes in the Scriabin
International Competition, the Valeria Martina International Competition, the
Paduar International Competition, and The Muse International Competition. She
also achieved top rankings and won the Grand Prix Maria Callas and special
awards in several international competitions, including the Milano Spazio
Teatro 89 International Competition, the Sydney Southern Highlands
International Competition, and the Germany Haveland Festival International
Competition, thereby gaining recognition for her outstanding musical talent on
the international stage.
Min Jeong has collaborated with numerous
distinguished orchestras both domesically and internationally. She won the
Seoul National University Concerto Competition and performed at the Seoul
National University regular concert held at the Seoul Arts Center Concert Hall.
She has also performed with the Netherlands Orchestra, the Romanian Radio
Symphony Orchestra, the Germany Brandenburg Orchestra, the New York Uruk
Orchestra, the Italian Silesian Strings, the Amadeus Ensemble, the KBS Symphony
Orchestra, the Gyeonggi Philharmonic, the Chungbuk Provincial Symphony
Orchestra, and the Seoul National University Korean Music Orchestra, among
others.In addition to her domestic performances at the Chosun Ilbo New Music
Concert, the Youth Music Festival, and the Tongyeong International Music
Festival, Min Jeong made her debut at Merkin Hall in New York and subsequently
toured five U.S. cities at the invitation of the Seoul National University
Alumni Association. She has been invited to perform in various regions across
Asia, the Americas, and Europe. Her notable performances include the Berlin
Philharmonie New Artist Series, the Excellent Concert sponsored by Daniel
Barenboim, the Messiaen 100th Anniversary Concert, the Mendelssohn Memorial
Concert, and solo recitals at the Berlin Steinway House, the solo recital
series Jour Fixe: Musik am Nachmittag, the La grande Musica a Maso Spilzi
Festival in Italy, the Primavera Pianistica Festival in Belgium, the Northwest German
Philharmonic Summer Festival, the Qingdao International Music Festival in
China, and the Halong Bay International Music Festival.
Min Jeong has also been actively performing
chamber music both domestically and internationally. She has participated in
various domestic concerts, including Beautiful Thursday at Kumho Art Hall, Rush
Hour Concert at LG Arts Center, Matinee Concert at Seongnam Arts Center, the
Seoul Spring Chamber Music Festival, the Tongyeong International Music
Festival, and the Jirisan International Music Festival. She has also performed
in numerous international chamber music concerts, including an invited
performance with the Basel Symphony Orchestra in Switzerland and the
Klangspuren Contemporary Music Festival in Austria. Since 2005, Min Jeong has
expanded her musical repertoire in the field of contemporary music as a guest
member of the Ensemble TIMF. She has performed in various contemporary music
concerts, including the Contemporary Music Festival with Sukhee Kang, the Korea
Chamber Music Composition Festival, and the Isang Yun 100th Anniversary
Concert. In 2017, she planned and performed a piano solo recital "Dance on
the Piano" with a ballerina, which was selected as a Zebra Project winner
supported by the Seoul National University Alumni Association. She has also
expanded her performance range by exploring new themes, such as collaborating
on a chamber music performance themed on Korea's Arirang with an alphorn (a
traditional German instrument) and a clarinet in Munich, Germany.
Currently, Min Jeong is an active member of the Ensemble TIMF and serves as an invited professor at Wonkwang University.
